AT&T/USL TUXEDO System Transaction Manager, known as System/T, isflexible, efficient, and has a proven framework for building UNIX OLTPapplications in a distributed networked computing environment.The System/T architecture is an enhanced client-server model withcapabilities for networking heterogeneous machines, distributedtransaction processing, data dependent routing, and automatic dataconversion between dissimilar machines. It provides interfaces foradministration of an OLTP application. Other functions include:scheduling optimization, load balancing, data integrity, concurrencycontrol, and audit/debugging utilities.The Transaction Manager (TM) not only delivers these functions in acentralized manner, but also offloads these requirements from aRelational Database Management System (RDBMS) or Resource Managerdesigned for relational reporting. The TM improves the performance andresiliency characteristics of an RDBMS. Thus the TM, packaged with anRDBMS, is an optimal approach to a resilient, performance-oriented OLTPsolution. The following RDBMSs are supported by TUXEDO System/T: ORACLE,INFORMIX, TUXEDO System/D.
